As I drove across to Cambridgeshire this morning to visit family I heard on the radio the Great North Run will be seeing its millionth runner this year and it has been heralded as the biggest mass participation running event. Amazing ... !
For me I am currently ramping up my running mileage for my own two upcoming half marathons later this month and it all came real when you receive your race number through the post. I am looking forward to it, an opportunity to see what I can do out of the water and compete on land.
Deciding to run two, one weekend after another is possibly one of my more stupid ideas and no idea what my body will be saying to me after the first one, let alone after the second. Oh well ... As they say in for a penny in for a pound. However, before these two challenges I shall be heading to Ireland to compete in the Dublin Regatta with the GB slayers. It should be a brilliant weekend and be back in the boat with the women.
The past few months have taken their toll on me and the disappointment of the summer has certainly affected my confidence and self esteem. However, I feel like I am beginning to find that end of the tunnel and see a new fresh light. So in celebration and my wish to start afresh and bring new positive vibes I fitted two new lounge ceiling lights this weekend. The next four weeks will be busy in many many ways... Fingers crossed the fitness I have tried to gain back over the last 3 weeks will see me through next weekend and I can pull hard for the team. So expect a few more blog posts to track my latest antics.
