It has been a little while since last blogging and you (or may not) wander what has been going on and what I have been up to...
So where is the book... Well good news is that the first draft is complete and I am now going through it for a second edit. I have now had some really positive feedback from some literary agents and I am working on getting there tweaks into the book. The second edit is proving hard, the reason is that I am having to delve into bits of my memory that hurt to open up. One such thing is describing pain, have you ever tried to do that? How do you get a reader to understand what that felt like and get them to ask themselves if they were in that position, how would they have coped? Drawing this emotion is draining and currently it is taking me a week to psyche myself up to editing just a single chapter. I am now feeling like I am on the home straight and have got over the half way mark.
I shall have to wait for you the readers to see if I managed to achieve this task and allow you to experience the emotion I was feeling at each step of my journey of my adventure and it's recovery.
Where do I hope to be... At the beginning of March I shall be once again going to more agents with the new edited edition (considering they make a judgement on only the first few chapters)... I shall be sending those in. Then it will be wait and hear!!!!
What else is going on ... You may see I have been busy building a few things up, public speaking, tutoring modules and generally building up my portfolio in the local area.
However, as with anything some events make you look back and reflect. Today we hear about the tragic events of a kayaker on the River Usk. My thoughts go out to all involved and those of which are people I know and have paddled with. It has been a tough day. It is sad and not a nice thing to deal with and in situations like this all human emotions are felt from anger, guilt, frustration and much much sadness. The one of many things that I have learnt from my experiences is that there is no right or wrong way to feel but we can live each day and enjoy every hurdle we jump over.
Later this week I shall be heading to the Scottish highlands for some training... Yep I am back training with a goal of trying to make the world championship team...
So that is my wee update ... Much more to come but my mind is a bit fried from today so it is time to take myself to the land of nod! Keep smiling all even when it gets tough! X
